Established in July 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) is dedicated to strengthening the UAE’s industrial sector and increasing its contribution to the national GDP. The Ministry was formed by merging several key entities, including the Office of the Minister of State for Advanced Technology, the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), and the Industry sector of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. All relevant responsibilities and duties were transferred to the newly established Ministry.
MoIAT’s primary goal is to enhance the national industrial sector by accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies, improving quality infrastructure, and creating an attractive business and investment environment. The Ministry also focuses on attracting highly-skilled talent while upskilling the local workforce to meet the demands of industries of the future. Another key initiative is increasing the national In-Country Value (ICV), further strengthening local industries.
With a vision to develop an integrated industrial system, MoIAT aims to leverage advanced technologies and solutions from the Fourth Industrial Revolution to build a sustainable, knowledge-based economy. By fostering innovation, investing in talent, and driving technological advancements, the Ministry plays a pivotal role in positioning the UAE as a leader in industrial and technological development on the global stage.
