Full Professor of Electrical Engineering and Circuit Theory at the Department of Industrial Engineering and lecturer in Electromagnetic Processing of Materials. He served as Vice-Rector for Innovation and Corporate Relations at the University of Padua. He designed and launched—as Scientific Director—the new first-level Master’s program, MOIM – Master in Open Innovation Management, now in its fourth edition. He conducts research in the field of industrial applications of electrothermal technologies (i.e., technologies that convert electrical energy into heat) with particular emphasis on the thermal treatment of metals, the food industry, the biomedical industry, and domestic applications. Specifically, he works with microwave, radio frequency, induction, and infrared heating, as well as industrial plasma applications. In these areas, he has maintained significant collaborations with leading international companies. He has coordinated several European projects and is the author of over 220 scientific papers, at least 160 of which are indexed in WoS and SCOPUS. He is the inventor or co-inventor of 15 patents and founded two research companies, both spin-offs from the University of Padua. He has been director of the Contamination Lab of Veneto, the only transdisciplinary learning experience offered to students at the University of Padua, aimed at identifying innovative solutions applicable to challenges proposed by companies and non-profit organizations operating in various industrial and social sectors. He has been the founding president of the SMACT Competence Center of the Triveneto—a public-private partnership involving the nine universities of the Triveneto region along with over thirty private companies and public research entities—created under the Industry 4.0 program of the Ministry of Economic Development. Since its inception, he has sat on the board of directors of the business accelerator “Le Village” of Credit Agricole, of which the University of Padua is a member. He is a member of the board of directors of the Cotec Foundation, appointed by the Minister of MIMIT - Italy.
