Mr. Samer Al-Kharashi was appointed as the UN Tourism Regional Director for the Middle East in June 2024. A distinguished Saudi Arabian diplomat, he brings extensive expertise to the UN Tourism’s mandate. He holds a High Diploma in Diplomatic Studies and a Bachelor of Law from Saudi Arabia, with further education from Harvard, Cranfield, and the European School of Protocol. His diplomatic career includes roles such as Vice Consul in Geneva, Adviser for Foreign Affairs, and Deputy Head of Mission in Washington, D.C. Since 2019, he has been a Minister Plenipotentiary, participating in significant international forums and conferences. His strategic perspective aligns with the UN Tourism’s goals of sustainable tourism development and enhancing the region's global tourism competitiveness.
