María Ariza has served as CEO of the Institutional Stock Exchange (BIVA) since it began operations six years ago. Under her leadership, the institution has solidified its position, gaining national and international recognition, reaching US $35 billion in corporate financing, and reaching an average market share of over 20% in trading volume. Since 2021, BIVA has been recognized among the top 5 most innovative companies in Mexico by Great Culture to Innovate and Expansión magazine. Before entering the stock exchange sector, María built her career in private equity, holding roles such as CEO of the Mexican Private Equity Association (AMEXCAP), Partner at Ictus Capital, and Associate at NAFTA Fund, specializing in financing structures for high-growth companies. María currently serves as an independent board member of AXA, Mac Hospitales, Grupo Bafar, Fibra Nova, and Ualá. She also sits on the investment committees of Nexxus Capital and Dux Capital, and on the boards of several nonprofit institutions in higher education, both in Mexico and internationally, as well as civil society organizations such as VP of Fundemex, Educampo, and CMR. Additionally, María is a Partner at Grupo Salus S.A. de C.V., a Partner at Cervecería de Colima S.A.P.I. de C.V., and a Venture Partner at Matterscale Ventures LLC. On the international stage, María serves as Co-Chair of the “U.S.-Mexico CEO Dialogue,” a high-level institutional forum for interaction between business leaders and governments from both countries. She is also a participating member of the “High-Level Expert Group,” representing Latin America before the European Commission to address the challenges and opportunities of sustainable finance. María’s career has been recognized with several awards, including “CEO of the Year” by Women in Finance Latam in 2025, first place in the “CEOs Change Makers” ranking in 2024 — which evaluates the most innovative and transformational business leaders in Latin America — and “The Most Innovative CEOs in Mexico” by Great Culture to Innovate in 2023 and 2024. She has also ranked among the top leaders in Merco’s “Most Reputable Leaders in Mexico” list in both 2023 and 2024. Previously, she received the “Exceptional Women of Excellence” award from the Women Economic Forum in 2020, as well as the Ricardo Flores Magón Medal in 2018. María has also been highlighted in leadership rankings by Expansión, Forbes, and Líderes Mexicanos magazines. María Ariza holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Harvard University, where she was nominated for the Dean’s List of Academic Achievement Award, and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering with Academic Excellence from Universidad Iberoamericana.
