As an Executive Director at First Bank of Nigeria, he earned acclaim for leadership in Nigeria’s financial sector before entering public service. Lawal’s 2023 gubernatorial victory under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ended the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s hold on Zamfara, reflecting public demand for change amid security and economic crises.
