Mr. Emmanuel Mpawe Tutuba is the Governor of the Bank of Tanzania since January 2023. Prior to that, he served as the Permanent Secretary and Paymaster General in the Ministry of Finance, the position which he held from April 2021. He also served in various senior positions in the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania including Regional Administrative Secretary; Assistant Commissioner for External Finance; Assistant Commissioner for Budget; and Member of Boards for various Institutions, Committees and Government Teams. Governor Tutuba is an experienced economist who is visionary, transformational leader, hardworking and committed person, with ability to coach and coordinate others, innovative and ready to support other people’s innovations. As the Governor of the Bank of Tanzania and a central banker at large, Governor Tutuba’s mission is to ensure price stability, financial sector stability, financial inclusion for all, efficiency and safety of payment systems, and sustainable and inclusive economic growth. In addition, Governor Tutuba plays a critical advisory role to governments on formulation and implementation of fiscal and structural policies. Governor Tutuba believes that, in order to realize optimal economic outcomes and remain resilient in challenging times, collaboration and proper coordination of monetary, fiscal and structure policies is important.
