Vincent Beyer first joined UNCTAD’s IIA Section in early 2020 as a consultant. In his current capacity as Expert in Legal Affairs he regularly advises governments on international investment policymaking. He also contributes to UNCTAD’s research and policy advice in publications such as the annual World Investment Report, regular issues notes and other high-profile outputs. Vincent holds degrees in international law from the Netherlands and Switzerland. Prior to joining UNCTAD, he worked in private practice, litigating trade law disputes in front of the WTO, as well as for the Journal of International Economic Law. He earned a PhD in public international law from the Geneva Graduate Institute by researching the interaction of international tax, trade and investment rules. Vincent has published on international economic law in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes and has previously taught international investment law at the University of Groningen, Netherlands.
