Lamiaa Melegui is a highly accomplished professional with extensive experience in various fields. She previously served as the EU Economic Affairs Advisor to the former Minister for Planning and International Cooperation - Egypt, excelling in partnership management and policy-level work. Lamiaa's expertise spans international marketing, trade, and industries, with a specific focus on SME development, business planning, and economic relations. On the African level, last November in Senegal, Lamiaa was elected as a Co-Speaker for the GIZ - SNRD Africa sector working group on the regional level that focuses on policy dialogue and climate change. She is also certified as a trainer on the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) by the International Trade Center (ITC). In addition to her economic affairs expertise, Lamiaa has collaborated with prestigious institutions like UNIDO, SECO, DFID, USAID, and the EU. Her experiences have provided valuable insights into partner and stakeholder management, negotiations, and policymaking, particularly in rural development and sustainable natural resource management. She has been actively involved in initiatives addressing climate change adaptation and mitigation, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and enhancing resilience in rural communities. Her work has contributed significantly to the development of strategies aimed at reducing carbon footprints and implementing green technologies. Lamiaa's commitment to combating climate change is further exemplified by her role in numerous projects focusing on sustainable land management and renewable energy integration in agricultural practices. Her efforts include advocating for climate-smart agricultural techniques, promoting the conservation of water resources, and supporting green entrepreneurship to drive economic growth while ensuring environmental sustainability. Additionally, Lamiaa is a mentor in the Women Entrepreneurs Network (WEN). WEN is the first Egyptian entrepreneurs’ network of organizations and experts working together to strengthen and bridge the needs of the entrepreneurial ecosystem for women entrepreneurs, established by USAID. Lamiaa is also a board member of the National Initiative for Sustainable Entrepreneurs (NISE) with the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region & Europe (CEDARE), focusing on supporting green/blue entrepreneurs and promoting the sustainability of medium, small, and micro enterprises. Moreover, Lamiaa played a pivotal role as a member of the steering committee, which included key organizations in Egypt such as the Agricultural Export Council, Food Export Council, Chamber of Food Industries, Food and Agro-Industries Technology Center, and Industrial Modernization Center in establishing Egypt's 1st MAPs festival. The festival emphasizes the significance of medicinal and aromatic plants and serves as a platform for stakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities in the MAPs sector, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among manufacturers, exporters, producers, researchers, government representatives, policymakers, farmer organizations and smallholder farmers, investors, digital solutions providers, and the banking and non-banking sector. Lamiaa's dedication extends to community and social services, evidenced by her active engagement. Holding a master's degree in international relations and Affairs from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, she is also certified as a trainer on the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) by the International Trade Center (ITC), which further amplifies her capabilities in supporting SMEs and promoting trade in the African market.
