AAOIFI
Farhan Noor is the Executive Director of Standards Implementation and Capacity Building Programs at the Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), a Bahrain-based global standards-setting body for Islamic finance. With over 15 years of industry experience, he plays a key role in standards development, standards implementation and capacity building initiatives. At AAOIFI, he oversees standards implementation projects, supervises IT and technology-driven initiatives, and leads the regulatory research and development centre (RRDC). He has also contributed significantly to standards development, serving as project lead for two ethics and governance standards: “AAOIFI Code of Ethics for Islamic Finance Professionals” and “Institutional Framework for Implementation of Ethics”, respectively. Before joining AAOIFI, Farhan gained extensive experience in the Islamic finance and Takaful sectors. He worked at a Takaful operator before serving as Head of Islamic Finance at a Bahrain-based Shari’ah, actuarial, and learning advisory firm. In this role, he specialised in Shari’ah compliant product structuring, product documentation reviews, and research-based consultancy, collaborating closely with Shari’ah scholars, regulators and professionals. Beyond his professional roles, Farhan is an experienced trainer and educator, having designed and delivered specialised courses and workshops on Islamic banking, Takaful, capital markets and ethics across multiple countries. He is also a published author, co-authoring the book chapter “Takaful as a dedicated wealth management tool”, featured in a 2008 Euromoney Plc., publication.
