His Excellency has a university degree in Economy, with a major on business administration by the University of Costa Rica, and a Master in Economy with a major in business economics, as well from the University of Costa Rica. Minister Acosta has been the Minister of Finance in the Government of President His Excellency Dr. Rodrigo Chaves Robles, since 2022. The Minister has been actively involved in the negotiations and designed of the RSF with the IMF during 2022. His Excellency previously served as Vice-Minister of Finance (Revenues) from 2018-2019, co-leading the work on the 2018 fiscal reform that introduced the VAT in Costa Rica. Minister Acosta was, afterwards, an adviser at the Superintendency of Pensions (2020-2022). Minister Acosta served in senior positions in the financial sector, including Deputy General Manager of the Insurance National Bank (2010-2011), and parliamentary adviser from 2014-2018.
