Mikhail Varfolomeev is a member of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education since 2023, and was appointed a member of the Presidium of the Council in 2024. He is also the director of the Technological Park of Kazan Federal University and the head of the Petroleum Engineering Department. Co-founder of the innovative IT company Chemprophet LLC, which specializes in the digital design of innovative chemicals for various applications. His main areas of interests are energy sector, digital design, R&D, petroleum engineering. He is a coauthor of more than 450 publications and 38 patents. He is in the list of top 2% of most cited scientists in the world by Elsevier. Under his supervision more than 100 R&D and industrial projects were implemented.
