Karno Tenovuo has been in the marine business since 2004 and launched several groundbreaking solutions to the market. He is currently the CEO of Awake.AI. He holds an M.Sc. (Tech) from Helsinki University of Technology and an M.Sc. (Econ) from Turku University. In the first seven years of his career, he led R&D and business development at Finnish shipyards. He then founded his own company, with Rolls-Royce as one of the key customers, and was soon offered a global role leading Rolls-Royce Marine’s business development and strategy in Norway. Karno began researching future ship operations, eventually growing this into the Ship Intelligence business, where he served as SVP and P&L owner, eventually developing the world’s first remotely controlled and autonomous vessel. Recognizing that smart ships would still face port delays, Karno saw an opportunity. The Port of Rotterdam sought a team to address this, leading to the creation of Awake AI, which quickly became the digital development and AI partner for ports and operators.
