The Arab Investment & Export Credit Guarantee Corporation "Dhaman" is a multilateral credit and political risk insurer rated AA- by S&P. Launched in 1974 and headquartered in Kuwait, its membership comprises all Arab countries and four pan Arab financial institutions.
Dhaman’s mandate is to facilitate the flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDIs) to Arab countries and to support Arab export to the world. Dhaman provides bespoke comprehensive and cost-effective risk-mitigation insurance products to exporters, Investors, banks, insurance, and reinsurance companies.
Amongst other risks, Dhaman covers the risks of default of payment related to international trade credit and a set of political risks comprising wars and civil disturbances, confiscation, expropriation, currency inconvertibility, transfer restrictions, breach of contract, and non-honouring of sovereign financial obligations.
Dhaman’s investment insurance scheme covers direct and indirect investments in Arab countries against political risks. The initial coverage period is 10 years, extendable to 15 years. Both new and existing investments are eligible. covered investments include equity, investment portfolios (shares & bonds), shareholders and non-shareholders loans, equipment and other physical assets held overseas.
Dhaman enjoys more than 45 years of operational experience in the Arab region and international markets, the long-lasting capital support from member countries enabled Dhaman to insure more than USD 23 billion of trade and investments in Arab countries. Thanks to its Preferred Creditor Status Dhaman recovered 100% of claims disbursed under the political risks cover.
