The CEMI is a leading research institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the field of economic theory, which is also an organization professionally specializing in the elaboration and further development of methodological and instrumental tools for mathematical and computer modeling of economic objects and processes.

CEMI's mission is to conduct fundamental, exploratory and applied interdisciplinary research focused on the implementation of the most important economic and geopolitical national priorities of the Russian Federation using unique mathematical and computer tools.

The CEMI includes 5 departments, 22 laboratories in which two Academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, three Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 49 Doctors of Sciences, 92 Candidates of Sciences conduct research. The total headcount is 350 (including supporting personnel and engineers), among them - 184 scientific specialists. Over the past 10 years, more than 3,500 papers have been published in Russian and foreign scientific citation databases, more than 15 results of intellectual activity have been registered.

CEMI's scientists include economists in a wide range of areas, specialists in computer modeling and mathematicians - specialists in game theory, probability theory, mathematical statistics and econometrics, stochastic dynamic systems, discrete mathematics, theory of optimal problems and computational methods. The CEMI actively cooperates with Russian and foreign institutions to improve innovative economic and mathematical developments in the field of simulation modeling with an emphasis on long-term forecasting.

MOBIUS software and analytical complex - a tool for planning, monitoring and forecasting the socio-economic system of Russia.
The digital twin of the socio-economic system of Russia - a platform for experiments in the management of demographic processes.
Modeling and assessing the national strength of Russia – the model that allows making calculations in the form of integral indicators for assessing the national strength of 193 UN countries.
A concept for the creation and operation of the Situation Center of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade designed to support decision-making in the Ministry has been developed and adopted for practical implementation.
A concept and program of reforming industrial enterprises have been developed, which were used by the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Industry and Science of the Russian Federation.
A computer model of the Russian economy (RUSEC) designed to solve various applied problems has been developed.
A methodology and methods for determining the prices of associated petroleum gas for the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation has been developed.
Mathematical methods and software systems for the creation of optimal fields and ionizing radiation for radiation therapy of malignant tumors have been developed.
A concept of the Open Science software and hardware platform has been developed as a virtual environment for research activities and professional interaction of scientists based on the technologies and services of the Socionet system.
A software and methodological complex has been created to optimize the use and evaluation of octahedral diamonds – highest value raw materials.
A methodology for modeling the production potential of enterprises has been developed based on the concept of a stochastic boundary in the context of the socio-economic development of the constituent entities of Russia.

The CEMI acts as an international platform for the professional community, bringing together representatives of science, education and business. Applied experience of scientists allows being at the forefront of science in the conditions of geopolitical instability. The priority areas of the state are actively supported by CEMI’s research for the development of new generation complex information and analytical systems, which are introduced into state management complexes.
