The Pan African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PACCI) was established in 2009 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. A group of forward- looking business leaders came together in Addis Ababa to form Africa’s first continental chamber of commerce. They created this body because they knew the best way forward was together, united as business leaders around shared goals of prosperity, progress and social benefit. They knew business had a key role to play. Along with government and others, they understood business contributes to building strong communities and addressing social challenges.
In 2013, PACCI signed a Headquarters Agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Ethiopia to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the PACCI Headquarters.
Established in 2009 to serve Africa’s business by promoting for public policies that will foster continental economic integration, competitiveness, and sustainable growth.
PACCI offers its constituents a wide range of services including advocacy for enabling business envirionment, capacity building, and business networking.
PACCI currently represents over 15 million businesses in Africa through 58 members (54 national associations of chambers of commerce and industry and four regional chamber organizations) and African network of over 400 local chambers and industry associations. More than 98% of these businesses are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
