EPLO Institute for Sustainable Development

The European Public Law Organization (EPLO) is an international institution dedicated to the creation and dissemination of knowledge in Public Law and Governance. The EPLO’s areas of focus include national, comparative, and European public law, human rights law, environmental law, and the promotion of European values. Its ultimate aim is to foster a new generation of lawyers and democratic institutions globally.

The EPLO’s mission is to enhance governance capacity and facilitate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular emphasis on promoting the European Green Deal. The organization strengthens the capabilities and structures of both public and private sector institutions, bridging gaps between the developed and developing worlds to build sustainable and effective governance systems.

The Institute for Sustainable Development is one of the EPLO’s key initiatives, operating alongside its European Law and Governance School (ELGS). The Institute draws on the combined expertise and experience of its founding institutions to offer unique support to public and private sector organizations worldwide. By enhancing knowledge and fostering collaboration, the Institute helps institutions strengthen their capacity to implement the SDGs.

Though based at the EPLO offices, the Institute operates as a virtual center, connecting resources and expertise from around the globe. It provides face-to-face programs and services, hosted both at the ELGS academy in Athens and at EPLO offices worldwide. The Institute’s global reach ensures that it can effectively deliver knowledge and training to organizations across different regions and sectors, empowering them to create positive, sustainable change.
