UAE to Fast-Track AI Infrastructure as Trump Unveils “AI Action Plan”

05 August 2025

A UAE delegation reiterated the country's commitment to accelerating artificial intelligence infrastructure investments during recent high-level discussions with US officials, following the announcement of US President Donald Trump’s “AI Action Plan” earlier this week.

The UAE’s Ambassador to Washington, Yousef Al Otaiba, reaffirmed Abu Dhabi’s pledge to invest $1.4 trillion in the US economy, stating that the UAE is ready to “fast track” key AI and infrastructure projects agreed upon during President Trump’s visit to the region in May 2025.

At the center of the collaboration is a proposed UAE–US AI campus in Abu Dhabi, which will span 10 miles and is expected to deliver 5 gigawatts of power capacity by 2030. The project aims to support American AI companies in reaching customers within a 2,000-mile radius. UAE sovereign wealth funds and leading technology firms such as G42 are expected to play a significant role in its development.

Discussions also addressed the expansion of AI cooperation amid ongoing US policy reviews on semiconductor exports to the Gulf region. However, with the introduction of the AI Action Plan, industry sentiment appears to be shifting in favor of enabling AI development and data center expansion in countries with strong strategic alignment to the United States.
