A Comprehensive Guide to AIM 2022’s Startup Sessions & Workshops

The AIM 2022 comprises many activities and features that work together to achieve the event’s objectives. Under the umbrella of AIM 2022’s Startup Pillar, the event includes the following sessions and workshops:  

First: Pre-conference Sessions & Workshops 

Workshop: Startup Workshop 1  

Title: Customer Discovery: What's the Problem and What Needs to be Validated?  

Date: 28th March 2022 - 10:00 to 13:00 

Synopsis: The workshop will be broken down into a Brief intro on Lean Startup Methodology; Brainstorming, the essential tool to discovering customers’ problems/needs; and, Business Model Canvas - a great tool to help you better understand a business model and what needs to be validated.  

 

Workshop: Startup Workshop 2 (Connectology)  

Title: Zero Risk Startup  

Date: 28th March 2022 - 10:00 to 13:00 

Synopsis: Based on real-life examples, the workshop will teach the participants to understand, identify, avoid or mitigate the main risks in any project, which will significantly reduce the project risk. A dynamic risk mitigation approach will create benefits for both investors and entrepreneurs.

Workshop: Start-up Pillar  

Title: Exit Options Available for the MENA Technology Ecosystem    

Date: 29th March 2022 - 10:00 to 13:00 

Synopsis: The speaker will discourse on the fact that exits are the least mature part of the VC investment journey in MENA and the region suffered from too few exits. However, we have seen in 2021 an acceleration of exits and the emergence of more exit options. IPOs for technology companies are now possible in KSA, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. The successful IPO of Jahez on the Nomu parallel market in KSA is a case in point. Also, Anghami merging with a NASDAQ-listed SPAC also was a first for the MENA Technology Ecosystem.

Workshop: Start-up Pillar: Global Leaders Debate 

Title: Nurturing an Enabling Start-up Ecosystem  

Date: 30th March 2022 - 10:00 to 13:00 

Synopsis: The panel of global leaders and policymakers discusses their attempts to strengthen the start-up ecosystem and to tackle upfront the bottlenecks that were undermining the emergence of a strong start-up hub.

Title: Start-ups Solutions for Sustainable Future

Title: Serial Start-up Investing – How to spot the ones with high growth potential?

Workshop: Start-up Pillar: Insights 

Title: Being a Start-up Unicorn, Lessons from the Billion Dollars Club

Synopsis: Out of the hundreds of thousands of new businesses emerging every year globally, only about 1% of the start-ups evolve into unicorn start-ups. The discussion revolves around how the 1% made it to the billion-dollar league, their start-up journey, building resilience and innovation, and staying ahead of the game in a highly competitive start-up space.

Title: Accelerators Vs. Incubators

Synopsis: While start-up Incubators are more open-ended and nurture start-ups over a longer period, accelerators pay close attention to each start-up and target to rapidly boost growth. The session discusses how to choose the right one at any stage of your start-ups, from the moving hands of start-ups.
