Simone Filippini is a former senior Dutch diplomat. Among others she served as Head of the Gender and Women Rights department in the Netherlands MFA, Consul-General for the Southeastern US and Dutch Caribbean, and Dutch Ambassador to North Macedonia. She was awarded the MFA Diversity Award in 2010 and has received multiple other awards as an ambassador. In 2013 she became CEO of the largest Dutch humanitarian and development organizations Cordaid, which also manages a nearly 100 million Euro Impact Investment Fund. Next she served as interim Executive Director of NIMD, the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy. In December 2018 Simone established the Leadership4SDGs Foundation which aims at capacitating and empowering government leadership to lead and drive achieving the SDGs. Simone has served in multiple voluntary functions, including as the elected International Secretary of the National Board of Dutch political party D66. At present a.o. she is a member of the World Government Summit Dubai Global Council on SDG16, President of the UN Association of the Netherlands and Member of the Supervisory Board of the Netherlands-African Business Council. Mrs. Filippini is also a communication expert and accomplished speaker. Her experience includes a TEDx talk and broad experience in diverse media.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are being formulated by the international community will have very significant implications for investment needs. The private sector investment in SDGs can help structure efforts to mobilise funds, to channel them to SDG sectors, and to maximise impacts and mitigate drawbacks.
This session will discover the positive impacts of investment in SDG segments, the challenges faced in LDCs and the opportunities which exist.
