Throughout history, cities have evolved, whether in a slow, well-orchestrated way or via an

immediate reaction to an eminent threat. As this global pandemic spread across the world,

cities everywhere faced serious risks as a result of not being adequately prepared to ensure

the resiliency of their people, economy, and/or governance. Leaders around the world

responded quickly to protect their communities. This session will help us to understand

how cities can become more resilient and address the basic, current, and future needs of

their city. We will seek to mitigate risks related to meeting the basic need of clean water

and current need of cybersecurity to providing our future need for advanced 21st century

The recent pandemic has had tremendous effect in Latin America. The multiple domestic and external shocks deriving from the pandemic has caused around 9.1% contraction in regional GDP in 2020. This will be a far deeper recession than the ones that occurred during the global financial crisis in 2008-2009 and the 1980s Latin America debt crisis.

Establishing key partnerships during these turbulent times is essential and this session will bring together thought leaders to discuss the importance of regional and international partnerships to combat the current pandemic and boost trade and investments within the region.
